Aging baby boomers are driving home remodels centered around mobility and accessibility.

From floor to ceiling, today’s homes are being designed—and redesigned—to accommodate residents as they age. Improvements such as better lighting and nonslip flooring, driven by baby boomers, ultimately offer easier access and increased safety for all family members.

According to the American Institute of Architects 2012 Home Design Trends Survey, the home layout trend that is increasing most in popularity is accessible home design for the aging population.
